Is it just me, or does this holiday season seem a bit emotionally charged? Sure, these are pretty turbulent times, and gathering around the table with a dozen-some-odd extended family isn't exactly the prescription for peace and harmony. The least I can do is offer up a big old batch of booze to stimulate the conversation. Help me, help you. more →
The farmer's market can be such an inspirational place-- seasonal produce in all different sizes, colors and varieties! To celebrate the end of summer, Erica, Todd and I decided to make lunch together with ingredients from our local farmer's market. more →
It feels wonderful to finally settle into our new house. Fiona has her own bedroom, and is no longer crammed inside our walk-in closet. We purchased a new kitchen island, which has quickly become the featured attraction, also known as Audrey and Fiona's baking zone. more →

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had cocktail cake on my mind for months. Thankfully, there’s a baker in the house to turn my twisted fantasies into reality! Actually, come to think of it, this whole margarita cake might have been Audrey’s idea in the first place . . . even better! more →
Check out this green bloody mary!! Instead of going the tomato route, I went with tomatillos + some other green goodies for this outlandish brunch concoction. The result is a bright, vegetal, peppery blend that just begs for a little vodka. And of course, don't forget the garnishes! I admit I went a little over-the-top, siding for a couple crispy carnitas tacos, elote, grilled shrimp, avocado, and even chicharrones. That skunk smell must have gotten to my head! more →
Valentine's Day is a bit different with a toddler in the house. Any/all romantic candlelit dinners have been replaced by wrestling matches on the living room floor - the three of us feasting from Fiona's lunchbox, while Grizzly circles for scraps. I suppose there is one thing that hasn't changed . . . Audrey and I will enjoy a cocktail or two. In fact, it will surely feel more deserved than years past. Have I mentioned that I think my daughter is part howler monkey?? Anyway, this year's cocktail was inspired by our honeymoon in Kauai. more →
What I particularly love about these recipes is that they're simple enough to make on a casual weeknight with friends, but also festive enough to justify serving at your NYE bash. It's amazing what a little extra sparkle will do for a party! Once again, thank you for another fabulous year. Here's to many, many more. Cheers!! more →
The star of the drink is certainly the St. George Green Chile Vodka. Each sip contains an insane amount of vibrant green chile flavor. Super compelling stuff!! For this reason, I wanted to pair with simple flavors that would keep the chile as the star, but subtly complement in their own way. Lately, we've been making a ton of dishes from Plenty, where mint and cilantro are often used in combination. more →
You see, olallieberries are blackberry and raspberry hybrids - aka the perfect berry! They have a relatively short season, which is NOW, so do yourself (your mom, brother, housemate, cousin, neighbor, etc) a favor and grab some while they last. And while you're at it, bookmark this cocktail. more →
Yesterday I promised to share the recipe for the cocktail I featured as part of the DIY cocktail station, so let's get right to it. I wanted something creative enough to impress my guests, but also simple and relatively quick to make. more →
When it comes to micheledas, everyone you ask is likely to have their own take on this traditional Mexican beer drink, or cerveza preparada. Recipes vary depending on region, as well of course on personal preference. All versions call for a Mexican lager of choice, lime juice and salt. After that, it can get a bit controversial. more →
