Boulevardier Cocktail

Drinks,Recipes

People often ask what drink I order when I’m out at a bar. When I answer, “rum on the rocks” or “gin and tonic” you can imagine the enthusiastic responses I receive . . . Well the truth is, if I do so happen to order a more sophisticated cocktail, it’s the Boulevardier. I have proof! A variation of the more popular Negroni, this prohibition-era charmer uses bourbon in place of gin. Complex, well balanced, and easy to drink, the Boulevardier represents everything I’m looking for in a cocktail. Oh, and if you two haven’t already met, please allow me the introduction.

This cocktail sounds delicious and the glass it is poured into is a beauty. Please, if you could tell me where to purchase? Thank you. Cheers

where are those incredible coupe glasses from? I have been looking for ones similar to this

Cannnnot wait to try this – negronis are my go to, but bourbon is my first love! I have to know where those gorgeous coupes are from??

you can find really nice coupe glasses like that one at amazon, just key in coupe cocktail glasses. click on all departments its a quicker search. They have several styles to choose from. I need to order me 4 of them . Its my favorite glass .

What a beautiful cocktail! I’ve never had one of these but I’m intrigued. I know what I’ll be ordering the next time I’m out! Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite Bourbon? I’m looking for a favorite but just haven’t found one yet…

Oh my gosh, this is my dream cocktail, my 3 favourite ingredients combined. Why oh why haven’t I encountered this before?? I must make this immediately. Thanks Todd!

Its the result of the perfect marriage of the King of Cocktails and the Negroni…shall they never divorce!

A Boulevardier update: I went to a local bar last night and ordered this cocktail. While the bartender wasn’t sure about how to make one, all I had to do was inform him that it’s basically a Negroni with bourbon substituting for gin. Total bliss! This drink IS my new favorite (and this from a dedicated Manhattan drinker).

You seriously make the prettiest drinks ever!!!! And also, I’m making this to-night!!! Hey, hey thirsty thursday 😉

this looks insanely good but I will totally butcher the drinks name 🙁 hence gin and tonic wins 😛

Such a gorgeous cocktail – and it sounds amazing!

I am sooo ordering this… I have a feeling I may have to bring your recipe along.. Thanks for sharing

I LOVE THIS! I adore a negroni, but I am so much more keen on bourbon than gin. Thankyou for introducing me to my new best friend.

I love the cocktail education I get on your blog – I had never heard of Boulevardier but looking at your pics and the recipe – I know I’d enjoy one!!!

Thanks for the thoughtful words Archana. I’m glad someone’s learning something. So cool!!

Pinning for my husband because he’s the cocktail drinker in the family and for me because OMG these photos are STUNNING!

Thank you Sarah. Glad you like them. I had a tough time with this one – often it’s more difficult to shoot the drinks that have less ingredients. Go figure!

Where has this drink been all my life? I love bourbon (is that appropriate coming out of a tiny midwestern girl’s mouth?), and I love campari. Hello to my new fave!

In my best Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion (and Dorothy) voices, “Bourbon and vermouth and Campari? (Oh my!)” I know what *I’ll* be having this weekend! 🙂

Love the Boulevardier! I especially love saying it because it rolls of the tongue so nice and fancy-like. 😉 My favorite bar in Burlington is actually barrel-aging a batch of them now, and I cannot waaaaaiiiiit to try it!

It is fancy sounding isn’t it? I’ve had barel-aged Negronis at my local watering hole, but would definitely prefer a Boulevardier. Let me know how you like it Carey!

Switching out the gin for bourbon!? why have I not thought of that before!? Negroni is my go-to summer drink when I’m able, but I bet bourbon in this cocktail would make it that much better for colder months. Cannot wait to give this a try.

Thanks Ruthy! If you like whiskey AND negronis, you’ll love the Boulevardier.

I know this is strange, but I LOVE sweet vermouth. I always ask for a little extra in my dirty martinis (great paired with the savoriness with olives). Must try this!
