The Floridita

Named after one of the most historic bars in Havana, Cuba, this classic cocktail features crisp, vibrant flavors. I often describe it as a more sophisticated Cosmopolitan. For this version I used a homemade grenadine that I made by stirring together equal parts pomegranate juice and fine baker’s sugar until the sugar dissolved. Familiar notes of pomegranate and lime intermingle with more subtle hints of vermouth and cacao to produce a perfect spring happy hour offering.

OMG These drinks look SO GOOD. I wish it were summer in Seattle because these would be perfect for sunset.

Grenadine both misused and underused. Not here. This is a fantastic drink and the creme de cacao takes it to another dimension, really.

The Floridita looks like it would be a perfect drink on this warm afternoon by the bay. Beautiful photos!

The photos are amazing. The images really evoke the affect of a sense of place with this drink — I feel like with this drink I’m on a beach, with a little shack and a friendly bartender serving up this smooth and refreshing drink on a hot evening, just before the sun starts to go down. I can feel the sand between my toes and the warm breeze in my hair as I sip and relax.
