Crown & Crumpet

Profiles,Stories

It’s time to celebrate . . . British style! As we approach Saturday’s ceremony of Trooping the Colour, in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday (different from her real birthday) we’ve got a few special treats for you this week from across the pond. Personally, when I think England I think tea. My wife’s family is British, and naturally tea is part of our daily lives. So when I had a chance to pay a visit to Crown & Crumpet Tea Stop Cafe in San Francisco, I didn’t hesitate one second. There’s something special about sitting down for a good cup of tea. Maybe it’s the formality of it all: the tea pot, the cup and saucer, the quaint finger foods and decadent sweets, the vibrant colors and elaborate decor. Crown & Crumpet delivers on all of these aspects and more, like Blue Bottle Coffee and a stunning vintage tea cup clock. I’m also really excited to hear they’re close to finishing a new event space upstairs. Think tea + crafting, oh yeah!!

Crown & Crumpet is good. But the best tea in SF is Lovejoy’s. And the scones at Lovejoy’s I think have crack in them…

A good cup of tea can be hard to find in the bay area but I have had a good one at Crown & Crumpet. Those little cupcakes are yummy too. Fun little tea shop!

Wow this is great! I am visiting from Boston right now, and have been spending time in SF — I love the location in Japantown (so much good stuff in that neighborhood) and am excited to try this place!

Sean,Wishing you the all best in the next phase of this journey. Thank you for your inspiration, intelligence, and warm collegiality. What an honor to be a member of this tribe with you!yours in abundant living, mindful giving, & generous prosperity,Diana

This afternoon tea looks divine.
I love the formality of afternoon tea. There is something so special about it. I wish it played more of a part in our lives in US. The latin american countries have their siesta, the english their tea break and us, nothing.
I have decided in the last couple of months that I want to go for afternoon tea more often, it is such a little luxury in our cray lives. And always so delicious and satisfying.
Love this little spot you found in SF.
