I’m a coffee addict. I start every day with a good strong cup of black coffee. No cream, no sugar. But every now and then I crave a sweet, creamy coffee drink and this vegan coffee smoothie totally hits the spot. It is ultra creamy and SO delicious. It’s naturally sweetened with dates and thickened with almond milk and almond butter. This recipe makes one cup, but simply multiply the ingredients by the amount of cups you want to make. But guaranteed, you won’t be able to have just one!
VEGAN COFFEE SMOOTHIES
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of strong coffee (If making pour over coffee, use the amount of grinds for 1 cup of coffee but pour only 1/2 the amount of hot water)
- 1/2 cup of almond milk
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter
- 2 dates, pitted
- 1/2 teaspoon of bee pollen (optional)
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Top with optional bee pollen (although omit if you are keeping this vegan).

I’m with you about the coffee. black. in the morning, but I can see this as a perfect afternoon pick me up. I’m going to pick up some dates so I can give it a try!
Still my favorite smoothie to start the day, yum!
YES, black coffee err’day! My mother claims as a young child (read: preschool-coffee and I go way back) saying “black coffee” in a “cool voice”. Pretty weird thing for a kid to do, but also it makes sense I grew up to be a black coffee drinker.
BUT sometimes I too reminisce for a cool creamy cocktail like the Starbucks fraps of my teenage years. This is a fantastic update.
Looks amazing! I’ll definitely be trying this out soon!

Now this is how I want to start the day, what a brilliant multitasking smoothie!
Mm this sounds delicious! But be pollen isn’t vegan…I’d swap that part out for agave to make it vegan ; )
Thanks for the reminder Amy, I changed the recipe to make the topping of bee pollen “optional.”
This is not a vegan smoothie if it contains bee pollen (animal product).
Thanks Mary, I’ve edited the recipe to make the topping of bee pollen optional.
I’m a coffee addict and this smoothie sounds so delicious! This is definitely a recipe I’ll be using often!
