Bittermilk: Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour

No one mentioned how exhausting this whole being a parent thing was going to be. It’s as if I’m chasing a caffeinated howler monkey around the house. All I can say is, thank god for the tupperware drawer! Needless to say, happy hour has become a staple at our house these days. However, as you can imagine, time is of the essence. So when I came across a bottle of Bittermilk, I was instantly intrigued. Bittermilk is a hand-crafted cocktail mixer made by bartenders for cocktail enthusiasts. As you can tell, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill, sweet, syrupy cocktail mixer. Just like any well-balanced cocktail, each bottle contains a sweetener, an acid, and a bittering agent. All that’s left to do is add the spirit of your choice. I’ve been sipping on a bottle of Bittermilk No. 3, which is a Smoked Honey Whiskey Sour. We opened it yesterday, and it looks like we’re already in need of another!! A couple other flavors I’m itching to try are: Tom Collins with Elderflowers and Hops, and Oaxacan Old Fashioned. Who am I kidding? I want them all.

this was so great to see. I’m glad the word is getting out. Bittermilk is made in my home state of South Carolina, more specifically Charleston. Idk how far it’s making it across the country yet but if you’re on the east coast you should be able to find it at craft beer places, total wine maybe… Try them all!!!!!

Oh my, those flavors sound incredible, and these photos are drop dead gorgeous as always. How do you do it whilst chasing said caffeinated howler monkey?? Also, when can we have a Bittermilk party? I’ll bring the Tom Collins Elderflower syrup sitting neglected in my fridge!!

I love a good whiskey sour! I have found #3 is the best sweet and tart at the same time. I have found them at Whole Foods to the SOME liquor stores.

Wow! Where would you even buy something like that? It looks amazing! And I feel your pain, my 4.5 month old woke up several times last night. Sleep training is torture! Hope you get some rest this weekend.

I’m intrigued. What whisky did you pair with this mixer? Did you opt for a more robust (i.e, higher proof) or more tame whisky? And, where did you find this? I have a pretty good BevMo near my house so would they carry this? Or, would I need to track it down either online or at a specialty liquor store? BTW, caffeinated howler monkeys?! You JUST described my co-workers! And Tupperware drawers are the best!! 🙂
