Yum, We Love Rum!

Happy National Rum Day! Despite its fascinating history, rum hasn’t quite experienced the widespread revival in today’s cocktail culture that it truly deserves. If it was up to me, every different type of rum would have it’s own holiday. There’d be singing, dancing, and of course mandatory tastings! Until then, I’ll be honoring my favorite spirit by rounding up a few rum-related links.

  • Start by quenching your thirst with this classic rum remedy, the Painkiller. Head on over to Instagram for the full recipe.

  • Let’s debunk some myths, shall we?
  • FYI . . . how to not f@%& up a daiquiri.
  • Now that’s my kinda zombie apocalypse.
  • When it comes to rum, geography is everything.
  • Don’t be afraid to get a little creative every once in a while.
  • A handful of these and I’m good to go.

Wishing you a safe and happy day of rum!

Rum is my favorite too, the photo in this post is so beautiful, you can go and open a rum pub with that.

This presentation of rum in these coconuts is amazing! I can’t wait for warmer days to have one of these!

My daughter stopped by today with regards to asked her
to go out of the drawer for me. Bend your elbows,
relax your shoulders and enjoy your offer! She wanted
to take the drawer home.

Right here is the perfect web site for anyone who would like to understand this topic.
You realize a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you
(not that I personally will need to…HaHa). You certainly put a brand new spin on a subject that’s been written about for many years.
Wonderful stuff, just excellent!

In the early 17th century, Phu Quoc was a desolate area where
Vietnamese and Chinese immigrants earned their living from the highly coveted sea cucumbers.

Leave them out for longer periods of time until the
night-time temperatures are above 50 degrees.

Although colder weather shuts down and destroys tender vegetable plants, you do have an alternative
for growing your own succulent vegetables, and
that is to utilize a grow closet and garden indoors.

Oh National Rum Day! I need to put these holidays in my calendar. (Especially since I could have used a Painkiller or five after spending all of Friday in the kitchen preparing various ice cream treats for a friend’s birthday.) (: I have been so intrigued by that red bell pepper infusion. It even inspired me to make some rum drinks with red bell pepper juice, lemon, and basil earlier this year — so good!

And woohoo for favorite drink of the year status! You must warn me if I’m in danger of being dethroned, because I’ll totally need to step up my game. 😉

Thanks so much Carey! I dunno if anyone can beat your cocktail this year 😉 As far as the ice cream making goes, that’s what you get for being so damn good at it!! The best part about a Painkiller is that’s it’s traditional to up the ounces as necessary: Painkiller #3 = 3oz, Painkiller #4 = 4oz, so on and so forth.

Todd, will you please move to Chicago so you can make us these drinks every night? My mouth is watering, it looks so good!

Sitting on a warm beach with one of these coconut drinks in my hands sounds much better than the fog I’m sitting in right now. Maybe if I make one the beach will come to me…. worth a try!

I gotta say if *EVERY* drink was served out of half of a coconut, this would be a better world. I’d be willing to have rum/rhum, coffee, bourbon, heck, mouthwash…(okay, that’s a bit of a stretch….) out of a coconut shell! And both the zombie and lemongrass/kumquat punch look incredible. I may have to break out my cabana clothes this afternoon to celebrate this classic liquor! Happy National Rum Day Yum-sters!

I’m a big fan of rum!! I can’t wait til my cruise next month so I can sit by the pool enjoying rum punch and daiquiris 🙂
